About

Know what’s real in tokenised markets

The Golden Record is an independent record of tokenised markets. We grade every claim as confirmed, announced or speculated, link the source, and keep corrections on the page.

Every day, tweets, press releases, filings and commentary arrive in this space unsorted. We treat that flow as a data problem, with ownership, quality standards and traceable provenance, so retail and institutional readers can act on what holds up.

The Golden Record exists to be the copy you check everything else against.

How we work

Every claim we publish carries one of three tiers, and the tier travels with it

Confirmed

On the record from a primary source.

Announced

Said by the party, not yet shown.

Speculated

A reasoned guess, labelled as one.

Every number names its source and its as-of date. Corrections stay on the page they correct, dated, and every call is logged for good, the misses with the wins.

We also make sure the teams building here get seen. Each project in the registry has its own independent page, with its gaps stated plainly and a visible last-verified date.

We say what we hold and who pays us. Positions, payment and conflicts are written down in full on the disclosure page.

Who it’s for

Built by someone who governs data for a living

I’m Mac Sibanda, the founder, based in Rotterdam. I’ve spent more than 16 years in data governance inside multinationals across Europe, in banking, retail, consumer goods and electronics, working on ownership, lineage, quality and analytics.

Tokenising real-world assets isn’t mainly a financial innovation. It’s a data problem about who can see what, who can prove what, and who can be trusted with it. That’s the lens I bring here.

I’m a serial founder. From 2020 to 2024 I co-founded Spendow, which redirected online retailers’ affiliate commissions to charities by default, so shoppers paid nothing extra.

I’ve been investing in this market since 2020, long enough to see several cycles of hype outrun substance. I’m an investor who writes, not a writer who pretends to invest.

I have no problem being wrong. I have a problem being uninformed. Correcting the record in public is how the understanding of this space gets stronger, and I’d rather do that than protect a perfect-looking record.

My investment thesis

Tax the highway, don’t buy the asphalt

The macro case for betting on the RWA infrastructure layer, and why Canton is where institutional adoption is actually happening.

Institutional infrastructure, not speculation

Goldman Sachs, HSBC, DTCC, and BNP Paribas have all run on Canton, each at a different stage from pilot to production. This isn’t a retail DeFi play. It’s settlement infrastructure for tokenized assets. CC is the fee token the network runs on.

MiCA compliance is a moat, not a constraint

Based in the EU, I have a front-row seat to MiCA. RIZE is already on the ESMA register. Projects compliant from day one will be the ones institutions can actually use. Whether that becomes a durable advantage depends on how enforcement actually lands.

Privacy is the unlock for institutional DeFi

Canton’s privacy model lets institutions transact without exposing confidential data on a public chain. This solves the single biggest blocker to adoption. Without privacy, banks can’t participate. With it, they already are.

The ecosystem compounds together

EDEL needs tokenized stocks (RIZE provides them). HANDL routes stablecoins. HECTO gives pre-IPO exposure. CC is the gas for all of it. These aren’t separate bets, which cuts both ways: correlated upside, correlated downside.

Discipline beats market timing

I hold through the cycle and I do not trade the news. My edge isn’t timing. It’s the depth of research on each project and the relationships I build inside the ecosystem. The thesis compounds over 3 to 5 years.

Early-stage information arbitrage

Most crypto Twitter doesn’t understand the Canton ecosystem yet. The gap between the quality of the technology and the market’s awareness of it is where the opportunity lives. I’m here every day tracking it so you don’t have to.

I hold $CC, $RIZE, $EDEL, $HANDL and $HECTO
